Amazing clean lined, elegant masterbath

Clean lines, gorgeous view, modern spa like feel, soft beige relaxing tones, I'm
definitely adding this bathroom to my favorites.

I could spend hours in this steam shower, sitting on that bench, leaning back and
taking in the view. This bathroom belongs to a retired couple, bet they
are chilling in their bathroom right now.

I love, love, love the look of this undermount tub with its waterfall faucet.
When it comes to faucet placement on a tub, this is my favorite
look - when they seperate the handles from the faucet. I also
love this look on the vanity as well, but it is rare to find.

Don't you think this bathroom is a little slice of heaven?

bathroom resources:
counters are quartzite
tub faucet:  polished nickel stainless steel Dornbracht waterfall head
fixtures are Dornbracht
floor tiles: blue limestone tiles

bathroom details*:
the tub is set into a stone surround
roller blinds are concealed in the recess of the ceiling over the tub incase you want some privacy
mood lighting is provided by recessed lamps set into a nickel-plated, pop-up panel above the tub. This panel mirrors the dimensions of the tub surround
a steam shower is inside a glass enclosure
the shower drain is a long narrow trough and is positioned along the base of the obsidian bench in the glass shower enclosure
niches chiseled into the stone on the back wall of the shower create shelves for toiletries such as soap and shampoo.
to conceal plumbing, steel shower heads and faucets are mounted onto a polished stainless steel column at one end of the shower
the nickel detailing on the ceiling above the tub is echoed in the frame around the glass shower box
the vanity mirror is set into a nickel-plated frame
matching stone is used for the floating vanity top and the drawer faces below it
towel rails are neatly mounted beneath the outer edge of the vanity so the towels can hang out of the way in the void beneath it
the long, trough-shaped stone basin is sculpted into the vanity top, and water runs away through a narrow drain around the base of the sink.
to keep the space clean and uncluttered, the designer has concealed storage in the columns at each end of the vanity. These cabinets, fitted with electrical outlets, provide storage for hair dryers, shavers and other toiletries, and are opened by tiny, hidden handles

ps. Sorry my side column is still crashing into the photos, I have been a lazy bum and haven't looked for a solution in awhile! If you know how to fix it, please email me at mikky@todaloos.com or you can also leave a comment. Thanks!!!

What is it?

Oh what oh what could this thing be?

A hat to wear in the bathroom perhaps??

Find out Friday.

Tub base idea

This tub base does a nice job of combining tiles and a marble top.

Don't you just love the beautiful staturio marble floor tiles and
that chic silver bench?

Putting pedestal sinks on a pedestal

At first glance, all white pedestal sinks look alike, but look closely at
the pedestal sinks in these photos, they are all slightly different from
each other. I think this first one is beautiful.

I really love the silver bathroom bellow. I am crazy about that blue pattern
floor! I think the grey/silver penny tiles give this small bathroom
a modern feel and make the room very inviting.

You can never go wrong with the white subway tile and
pedestal sink combo, these two were made for
each other!

This bathroom feels very fresh and the little
vase of flowers is the perfect pop of colour.

Don't you love this quirky cool pink wallpaper?! Look closely at it,
at first it looks all pretty and feminine till you notice that
there are fire hydrants in the pattern. What a cheeky,
sneaky designer.

Pedestal sinks work great in small bathrooms where
you want to give the feeling of more space. The only
real drawback is no place to stash all the extra
bars of soap, cleaning supplies and toilet paper.

Celebs in tubs: Marilyn Monroe

Even in a bubble bath with bubbles right up to her
neck, Marilyn Monroe was forever the glamorous
movie star.

11 tile pattern ideas for your glass shower

Thought I`d pull together a few tiling ideas for the back wall of
the shower. Ok, if money were no object I'd get a floral mosaic shower like
this one, but since my lotto numbers haven't come thru yet, gotta
keep on dreaming...

I especially love this beige and white pattern.
It`s a very classic style that I think will still
look great 15, 20, 30 years from now.

I know how you guys love black and white stripes, so I
figured I should include a striped shower. I`m not
too sure about the floor though, the tiles look like
they are beige, I am a bit surprised by
the colour choice.

I really like this combo of brown and blue tiny mosaic tiles:

This mix of green mosaic tiles with white subway tiles is really
fresh looking. Plus it`s a great idea to save money on tiles.
Subway tiles are really cheap, so by tiling most of the
shower in white subway tiles they were able to splurge and
create a great focal point with the gorgeous green tiles.

Now this is an original combo: damask pattern tiles, smokey grey
tiles and copper colour penny tiles - this shower just
screams I am getting ready to hit the clubs and
tear up the dance floor!

And no shower tile list is complete without including the classic diamond tile pattern:

Which tile pattern would you pick?

My dream washroom floor

I an a sucker for mosaic tiles. I absolutely love this floor.
I dream of putting it in a powder room one day.

Tub base Tuesday

Here's a simple, clean lined tub base.

Using tiles to cover the tub base can help to save money, (depending on
how expensive your tiles are of course! ) and using the same large tiles
as the floor tiles helps to elongate the room and make the washroom feel larger.

By also tiling the back wall, they have created a frame for the fantastic
view outside. If they had just painted the wall the landscape would not stand
out as much. It would be fun to lie in this tub and watch the snow fall.

Cool blogger & Celebrity bathroom: Suzanne Marques

We've got a 2 for 1 today!

Not only is this girl an uber cool blogger but she is a celebrity to boot. If this
is your first time hearing about her, here's the Cole's notes version:

Suzanne Marques is a regular contributor to the nightly news on CBS2 & KCAL9 and is the Entertainment Reporter for their sister stations. She has also appeared on the tv show Lie to Me and has been featured in music videos. Talk about a kick ass career! And she
still finds time to write her amazing blog, LA Woman.

You want yummy recipes? Visit her blog.
You want to see what's happening in LA? Check out her site.
You want makeup and hair style how to's or you wish you could hang with a cool bunch of girls? Meet her friends and co-contributors on LA Woman. Everyone wants to have Jennifer Anniston as a buddy, but after you visit LA Woman, you'll wish you could hang with
these fun loving ladies (and raid their closets!)

Before I even started blogging I saw photos of Suzanne's powder room on her original site and thought it was so gorgeous that I knew I wanted to post pics of it once I started my own blog. I'm a bit late posting this post... I was going to cap off my month long October pink posts with her bathroom. I couldn't think of a prettier bathroom to feature. The timing was going to be perfect, since she seems to always be doing something fun for Halloween I planned to post her bathroom on Halloween, but a nasty cold and too much work derailed my plans. Hope you didn't eat up all your Halloween candies yet, grab some to snack on while taking a tour of her pretty pink powder room, and maybe put on a garlic necklace to be safe...

(Her costume this year was super sweet, check it out here.)

On with the tour!

Is it wrong to love a toilet? I just love her hatbox toilet!

I think you would agree that Suzanne's washroom in fan-tastic, some might even
say that it is simply fan-tabulous.

Woodson & Rummerfield designed it. I definitely need to do a
Designer spotlight on these guys, they do amazing stuff.
